How to Color Grade in Davinci Resolve

Here are some tips on color grading in Davinci Resolve

Just an easy breakdown for you guys.

  1. Color Correction

    1. Get your white balance in a good place and consistent

  2. Prim

    1. Adjust exposure and any other abnormalities while you’re going through each clip

  3. Split Toning

    1. This gives more color contrast from the shadows to the highlights.

  4. Curve

    1. Think of your contrast as independent from everything else.

    2. Remember that your contrast plays a big role in how saturated something looks (Darker things tend to have more saturation)

  5. Color Space Transform

    1. Make sure this is at the end of your node tree so you can edit without clipping your whites and crushing your blacks as easily

I go more in detail how this works in Davinci. (This is how to do this without any additional paid software)

I suggest you look into DCTLs that can help your workflow and get better color elsewhere!
