How to Organize Premiere Pro Markers for Client Revisions
A marker becomes useful when it tells you what to do at a specific point in an edit. For client revisions in Premiere Pro, combine a clear action, a precise location, and a simple status convention. Workflo brings marker editing and notes into a notepad-style view beside your timeline.
Choose the right location for the note
Premiere supports markers on clips and sequences. Use a sequence marker for a change in the assembled edit, such as replacing an opening shot. A clip marker is useful for a moment in source material that you want to remember. Adobe explains these options in its markers overview.
Make sure the note refers to the version the client actually reviewed. If feedback names a timecode from an older export, find the matching moment in your current sequence before placing the marker.
Write an action instead of a reminder
“Fix this” requires you to reconstruct the conversation. “Replace the wide shot with the approved close-up” tells you what the change is. Include the reason or source when it will matter later.
Shot change: Replace this shot with the approved product close-up.
Pacing: Tighten the pause before the second sentence.
Approval: Client approved this take in the September 2 review.
Question: Confirm the final price before updating this graphic.
Use a small color convention
Choose a few colors and write their meaning at the top of your project notes. For example, red can mean needs action, yellow can mean waiting on an answer, and green can mean reviewed. These are conventions you choose, not automatic Workflo statuses.
In Workflo, review marker notes together in the notepad view and change markers or colors as you work. Keep the text meaningful even without color, so the instruction remains clear at a glance.
Finish with a review pass
After making the changes, play through the affected sections. Update each note to reflect what you actually checked. Keep unresolved questions visible and move general delivery tasks, such as exporting a review file, into your notes checklist.
