Syracuse University Mini Documentary: Return of Felisha Legette-Jack Women's Basketball Team Coach
"The greatest compliment you can pay me is that I made a difference." - Jackie Robinson
WHY:
During the time of filming this, coach Jackson was announced to be the basketball coach for the Syracuse Women’s basketball team. The selection of her was so special because Syracuse was her alma mater.
“Legette-Jack helped lead the Orange to their first BIG EAST Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance in school history. More than 30 years later, she still ranks in the top-10 on Syracuse’s career scoring and rebounding lists. She is one of three players in program history to score more than 1,500 points (1,526) and grab more than 900 rebounds (927).”
At the school, she was known as a legend and still floated in their trophy room for the past 30 years.
We needed to tell her story from 30 years ago, to present, to what she’s planning on doing and where she’s planning on taking the Syracuse Women’s Basketball team.
WHAT:
We created three different episodes of this documentary series.
Past - Who Felisha Legette-Jackson was - her history on the team.
Present - Who she is today - told from the perspective of her old team mates and also now staff. (Her students as well)
Future - What she’s planning on doing - where she’s taking the team now to further build their legacy.
This involved flying to upstate New York to interview Coach Jackson, her staff, students, and even the director of athletics, John Wildhack at the school. Luckily we had access to all of the old photos and videos from the school’s servers that had videos of her games and photos 30 years ago to help tell the story.
After hours of filming and days of editing, I’ve produced these 3 videos to tell her story and legacy.
